Make a Day of Your Pet Photography Experience
Your photoshoot is already a beautiful experience for your pet and yourself. If you are travelling to us from Noosa, the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane or further away, it can be lovely to extend the day and enjoy a little of the Noosa Hinterland while you are here.
Pomona and Cooroy are both close to the studio, with Cooran, Kin Kin and Traveston making beautiful little towns and country stops if you would like to keep exploring after your session. Think coffee in a secret garden, a gentle walk with your furbaby, a relaxed meal at Pomona Distilling Co, or a slow country drive before heading home.
Beautiful Even Without a Photoshoot
You do not need to be coming for a photography session to enjoy this beautiful part of the world. The Noosa Hinterland is worth visiting simply for its rolling green countryside, character-filled villages, welcoming local businesses and slower pace. I genuinely love this area, and I hope this guide encourages you to come for a relaxed day out, with or without your pet and with or without a photoshoot.
Pomona
Pomona is full of charm, with a relaxed village feeling, old Queensland character and beautiful little places to enjoy with your pet.
Cooroora Creek Park is a lovely off-leash stop for dogs who would enjoy a walk, a sniff and some green space. It is a beautiful option if your furbaby has travelled a long way and would love to stretch their legs.
Pomona Distilling Co is perfect if you would like to extend the photoshoot experience with a beautiful meal or drink afterwards. It has a warm atmosphere and makes the day feel extra special, especially when you can sit back and appreciate what you have just created with your pet.
Pomona Country Markets are also a lovely Saturday morning idea. A slow market wander, coffee, local stalls and your hairy family member by your side can be such a sweet way to enjoy the town.
Opening days: Pomona Country Markets are usually Saturday mornings, 7am to 12pm. Pomona Distilling Co is generally open Wednesday to Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday closed.
Cooroy
Cooroy is also close to the studio and has a lovely collection of pet-friendly coffee spots. It is a beautiful little town to pause in before heading home.
My personal favourite is 15 Diamond Street, Cooroy. It is a perfectly renovated place with a beautiful secret garden, full of softness and charm. It is owned by Vicky, who is absolutely lovely, and the whole place has that special feeling of being created with care.
It is a gorgeous stop for coffee, a quiet seat in the garden and a little moment to enjoy with your furbaby after their portraits.
Opening days: 15 Diamond Street is generally open Monday to Friday, 6am to 1:30pm, and Saturday, 6am to 1pm.
Cooran
Cooran has a rustic, peaceful feeling and is a beautiful direction to take if you love a slower country atmosphere.
The Cart in Cooran is a very lovely coffee shop with a rustic hinterland feel. It is relaxed, charming and perfect for a coffee stop with your pet after a drive through the countryside.
Opening days: The Cart is generally open weekdays from 6am to 12pm, and weekends from 7am to 12pm.
Kin Kin
Kin Kin is so special. As you come into the village it almost feels like you have arrived somewhere completely different: slower, softer and beautifully tucked away.
Kin Kin Hotel is of course a very reputable hinterland destination, and it has been completely renovated with so much character. It is the kind of place that makes the drive feel worthwhile on its own. After a photoshoot, it can be a beautiful way to sit down, enjoy the atmosphere and turn the session day into a memorable experience.
Opening days: Kin Kin Hotel is generally open Thursday to Sunday, with coffee, lunch and dinner hours varying across those days.
Traveston
Dingo Creek Vineyard in Traveston is another beautiful option if you would like to add vineyard views and open country air to your day. It gives the experience a different feeling: relaxed, scenic and a little indulgent.
Opening days: Dingo Creek Vineyard is generally open Friday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm.
A Beautiful Way to Finish the Day
Some pets love a gentle walk before their portraits, especially if they are full of energy from the car trip. Others enjoy saving the exploring for afterwards. Either way, these little towns make it easy to extend the photoshoot into a full experience for your pet and yourself.
Bring water, treats, a lead and anything your furbaby needs to feel comfortable. Then enjoy the day slowly. The portraits are the heart of the experience, but the coffee, country roads, gardens and shared little moments can become part of the memory too.
Opening days can change on public holidays or for private events, so it is always worth checking each venue’s latest social updates before making the drive.
