Over the years of photographing people’s beloved pets, one question has come up time and time again. At every expo and event I’ve attended over the past nine years, there have always been people asking if they could purchase one of the prints on display. My answer was always the same: unfortunately, those portraits belonged to their owners’ pets and weren’t available for sale.
But it also made me realise something important—not everyone has a pet of their own, yet many still wish to enjoy and celebrate the beauty of animals through art. And so, The Animal Project was born. At first, my focus was solely on pets. But then I began to wonder—why stop there? Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to meet incredible people and build amazing connections, which opened the door to photographing more than just pets. My lens has since expanded to include farm animals, birds, and even wildlife and endangered species..
From this grew a vision: to transform these remarkable creatures into stunning fine art that anyone can bring into their home. Each piece is designed not just as a photograph, but as a timeless work of art. To achieve this, quality was non-negotiable. Every photograph is created here on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, and each print is handcrafted in Brisbane using only the finest archival paper and framing. This way, every artwork not only honours the animals themselves but also supports local craftsmanship
